The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE), on April 24, 2026, notified the Regulations for the Conduct of Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination, 2026 with the approval of the Government of Meghalaya. The Regulations provide a comprehensive framework governing admissions, eligibility, examination procedures, conduct of examinations, evaluation, appointment of examination functionaries, and measures to ensure fairness and transparency in the conduct of SSLC examinations across the State. The Regulations came into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
A key feature of the Regulations is the introduction of two SSLC examinations in the same academic year, namely the First Examination (mandatory) and the Second Examination (optional). The Regulations also prescribe eligibility criteria for Regular and Private candidates, registration requirements, selection tests, admission procedures, concessions for persons with disabilities, use of amanuensis, and provisions for candidates with specific learning disabilities. Detailed procedures have also been laid down for examination centres, invigilation, handling of confidential materials, prevention of unfair practices, and appointment of Officers-in-Charge, observers, and flying squads.
Additionally, the Regulations prescribe responsibilities of affiliated institutions, examination centres, and Board officials regarding maintenance of records, examination security, fee payment, conduct of examinations, and disciplinary action for violations. The framework also includes provisions relating to cancellation of candidature, de-affiliation of institutions for malpractice, grievance handling, and other administrative matters to strengthen the integrity and efficiency of the SSLC examination system in Meghalaya.
